‘Filmy’, the latest entrant in Hindi movie channels genre created significant noise at the time of its launch and since then has been strengthening its position by delivering GRPs almost comparable to the mass channel from the stable – Sahara One. Filmy officials, however, realise the need for further concentration on developing a market for the channel and in the process have appointed Sparsh Ganguly as National Sales Head. Prashant Sharma continues to be the Sahara One Network Sales Head and would still be developing the strategies on the way forward for the channel.
Prior to joining Filmy, Ganguly was the Sales Head for the West market at MAX. Elucidating the reason why Ganguly was chosen for this job, Filmy Business Head Ashutosh said, “His background includes five years at STAR and seven at MAX, which is extremely relevant experience for us. And his experience pans across regions – I don’t think we could have got a better name to take on this responsibility.”
Hitherto Sharma has been looking after this role, but a need for a dedicated source was felt to boost Filmy’s presence in the market. Ashutosh said, “Sparsh will work towards creating a market for Filmy. Hindi movie channels is a highly competitive genre and he will be instrumental in facing various challenges in days to come.”
Ashutosh further informed that Ganguly would be working closely with Sharma given that his role would be developing businesses based around the strategies put at the Network level.
