Shefalee Vasudev has quit Marie Claire India as its Editor. Though she had put in her papers in October 2009, she would continue working there till January 31, 2010. Prior to joining the Outlook Group to head Marie Claire India as its first Editor, Vasudev had been a news journalist for 15 years and had worked with various newspapers and magazines.
Vasudev has written for various newspapers, including Asian Age and Hindustan Times, as well as various magazines. During her stint with India Today, she wrote and reported extensively on gender issues, social investigative reports on female foeticide, trafficking of girl children. Child sexual abuse and women and children in religion have been the focus of her work.
In her writing career, Vasudev has worked on various beats, covering popular urban culture, social justice, sexuality and medical investigations. She has briefly taught journalism in the US. At some international forums, she has presented research-based talks on urban India’s aspirations in the context of sociological changes.
