Sharada Sunder has joined Real Global Broadcasting (RGB), the Turner-Alva Brothers joint venture, as President. Sunder will be responsible for brand, content, advertising sales and day to day operations of RGB’s projects and ventures.

Working closely with RGB Director Sunil Lulla, Sunder will drive and manage the company’s soon to-be-launched Hindi general entertainment channel, the first from the Turner-Alva stable.

Sunder comes to RGB with 19 years of experience across various functions in the media industry. Prior to this appointment, Sunder was Senior VP at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., in charge of Commercial & Projects, and was closely involved in all decisions related to programming and brand.

Announcing the appointment, Lulla said, “Sunder has significant experience in scaling media businesses with domain expertise in commercial management of businesses. An accomplished artiste herself, she brings a sensitive understanding of Indian consumers. We believe her leadership will enable our new Hindi general entertainment channel to establish a distinctive position in the marketplace.”

Said Sunder about her new role, “I am excited to lead a neo-age GEC channel. There is a big opportunity for a very distinctive position as this partnership can leverage its collective heritage in building a great brand and business.”

A CA by profession, Sunder had earlier held the post of Chief Financial Officer for various print businesses of Bennett, Coleman & Company Ltd (BCCL). Additionally, she was involved with the strategy function of growing BCCL’s advertising sales business, managing business development and business efficacy projects.
