Delhi-based Oxygen Communication has got back on board Sharad Phalgun, the former founder member of the agency. He rejoins the agency as Executive Vice President, which is a newly created role to lead the growth and manage operations for the agency’s creative and digital services. Prior to this assignment, Phalgun was with DDB Muscat where he was leading the agency’s clutch of blue-chip accounts. He will now be based in Delhi.
Under Phalgun’s leadership, Oxygen Communications operations will be grouped together, reflecting the company’s structure. This approach has been proven to foster partnerships and creative exchange across complementary services.
Tarun Das, Executive Director, Oxygen Communications, has been a partner to Phalgun at Oxygen since its inception. Das said, “I am happy to have Sharad back in Oxygen Communications. He and I had started Oxygen Communications together. With him back again, I am sure both of us can take Oxygen to newer heights and will add further creativity and growth to the agency.”
“The last two-and-half years at DDB Muscat have been extremely challenging. But belonging to an organisation that you started is more satisfying. I want to take Oxygen to a stage where it is evolving to change the landscape of creative enterprise,” said Phalgun.
He added, “India is one of the biggest paradoxes for advertisers. While it is a large market in terms of population, it is also challenging in terms of diversity of culture, infrastructure and, above all, a viable business model. I am looking forward to leveraging Oxygen’s talent bank for unlocking the true potential of this market.”
Phalgun’s 15-year-old career kickstarted with a stint at Contract, Chennai, followed by McCann Erickson. After spending seven years in Chennai, Phalgun moved to Northern India, where he worked with Rediffusion DY&R and McCann Erickson. During his advertising career, Phalgun has worked on brands such as Citibank, Maruti, Nestle, Reckitt Benckiser, Airtel, Tata Tea, Sieko Epson, Nippo Batteries, and many more.
