Shantanu Mallick to join STAR News as CFO

STAR News has a new addition to its top management squad. The channel’s hunt for a Chief Finance Officer comes to an end as Shantanu Mallick goes all set to move on from his responsibilities at Phillips India to take over as STAR News CFO.

While the deal is to be yet inked, industry sources inform that the appointment has been confirmed. Mallick’s de facto role would be that of a business head of the channel. Prior to his latest stint at Philips as Lighting Divisional Controller, he was associated with FMCG giant Hindustan Lever.

In his stint at Philips, Mallick is known to have propagated the adoption of business process management to automate business processes. His job profile at STAR News will largely include the supervision of the channel’s investments and finances.

This is yet another crucial development in the STAR structure, following the restructuring in its sales department. Until then the ad sales of the channel was the responsibility of the channel’s Senior VP, Joy Chakkraborthy. As a result of the restructuring, STAR News is on the look out for a national sales head. As a stop gap, Shanti Rao will take care of the channel's national portfolio.

In a matter of a couple weeks, not only will the channel’s sales head be in place but Mallick’s appointment will also be announced.
