With Reliance ADAG announcing its foray into DTH and IPTV space, it was expected that a few known names will be moving this new venture. Shalini Agarwal, who was earlier AVP-Marketing, Sony Entertainment Television, has moved on to the new venture as Head of Programming-DTH. Industry sources believe that Reliance’s DTH venture will be launched in the next couple of months.
In her new role, Agarwal will be deciding on the content to be delivered on the platform. It is understood that she will be reporting to Group President Prakash Bajpai for now and her role will also include deciding on the value-added services to be distributed along with the packages.
Confirming the development, Agarwal said that she joined Reliance’s DTH venture three weeks ago. She observed that the DTH space is becoming one of the most dynamic in the country. “With players already in operation and some more players expected to launch in the coming months, this will be the place to be in the media industry. It’s a time now when digital is where the entire media industry is moving to.”
Prior to her stint at Sony, Agarwal was Marketing Head of Zee Cinema. She had started her career in advertising 10 years ago with Mudra, and a stint at FCB Ulka, followed by Rediff, before she moved on to Zee.
