Shailesh Rao appointed MD for Google India

Google has announced the appointment of Shailesh Rao as Managing Director, Sales and Operations, for Google India. He will be reporting to Sukhinder Singh Cassidy, VP-Asia Pacific and Latin America, Google Inc. Rao will manage Google’s domestic business and strategic partnerships in India and will be based in New Delhi.

“As we continue to invest in India, Shailesh will focus on building a strong sales and operations team, developing Google’s strategic partnerships, and enhancing our relationships with the industry and government. We have received a very encouraging response from users in India and Shailesh’s appointment will be instrumental during this period of growth and development,” said Cassidy.

Rao said, “I am extremely pleased and privileged to have the opportunity to take on this new role. This is an exciting time to join Google India. The region is growing tremendously, and I am excited that I can help in making an impact.”

Rao brings with him a wealth of experience, having most recently served as Director for Google, based at the company’s headquarters in California, USA. He was responsible for growing Google’s local search business globally, driving Google’s third party channel programmes, as well as managing new content partnership programmes on a worldwide basis.

Prior to Google, Rao was VP-Products, Yodlee, where he managed all aspects of product and corporate development for the company’s core products and technology.


Kranti Gada joined the family business at Shemaroo in 2006 after a successful stint of over two years in marketing at Pepsi Co. She has been associated with the company for 12 years.
