After spending almost two years at Zee Sports, Satish Menon, President, Sponsorship and Business Development, of the channel is quitting. Menon is headed to Network18 Group in a senior role. Even as the move has been confirmed, further information on which division Menon would be working on and what his role would be was not available at the time of filing the report.
When asked on his decision to join Network18, Menon said, “I am happy to be joining Network18.”
This was Menon’s second stint with the Zee Group. He is expected to be with Zee Sports till year-end or early 2008. Only two days back the India Cricket League’s inaugural championship came to a fruitful conclusion where Menon was also involved.
Prior to working with Zee Sports, Menon was with Nimbus Communications as President - Sports and Media, wherein he looked after the Indian operations of Nimbus’ sports and media businesses. Prior to that, he was with Sahara One as President - Sales, Marketing and Distribution. Before that Menon was with Zee Telefilms, where his last posting was as President of Zee News. He was also involved in Zee’s unsuccessful bid to acquire the ICC World Cup cricket rights along with then Vice Chairman, Vijay Jindal.
Menon’s vast industry experience will come in handy at the fast expanding Network18 Group, both in existing ventures and new initiatives. There is a possibility that a new division could also be formed and would be looked after by Menon. Keep watching this space for more on what Menon’s new role would be as it is expected to be announced in January 2008.
