Salil Kapoor sure has a knack for marketing Korean consumer durables. The former LG marketing man is now with Samsung, with a stint in Microsoft India in between. Kapoor has quit Microsoft India as its Marketing Head-Consumer Audience, and has just joined Samsung India Electronics as Head-Home Appliances.
He replaces Rohit Mathur who quit the company in January this year. He will report to S H Park, Director, Home Appliances, Samsung India Electronics.
The Home Appliances Division of Samsung constitutes refrigerators, air-conditioners, microwave ovens and washing machines. Kapoor will look after product marketing, which includes product selection, product pricing and product marketing communications.
Ravinder Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director, Samsung India Electronics, while confirming his appointment, said, “As we are looking at giving a strong thrust to the home appliances business this year, Salil’s joining will give a strong impetus to push our business and achieve some of the objectives that we have set for this year.”
Kapoor started his career at Blue Star and then moved to LGEIL in 1998 where he held various positions in the company. He quit LGEIL in September 2005 as Head of Marketing Services & Brand, and joined Microsoft India in October that year.
