Sajal Mukherjee joins RSPL Group as Media Head

Sajal Mukherjee, a 30-year veteran of the media industry, has joined Rohit Surfactants, the flagship company of RSPL Group, as Media Head. He will be responsible for the entire media buying, planning and spends for the Group. He will report to Rohit Gyanchandani, Joint Managing Director, RSPL Group.

Commenting on his new role, Mukherjee said, “It’s a very dynamic group, having a very high accelerated growth over the years. The Group has business interests in FMCG brands, apparels, real estate and wind power. There are plans to launch some more FMCG offerings targeted at specific groups. It is a growing company with lots of future plans, hence it makes great sense to be part of the team which is growing and expanding.”

During his three-decade long career, Mukherjee has worked in many leading organisations, including Ananda Bazaar Group, Mudra Communications, JWT, RK Swamy BBDO, Rediffusion Y&R, Clarion, Contract Advertising and Oxygen Communications. He has initiated and led various media functions in these organisations and developed strategic business plans for clients, agencies and media companies. Besides, he has also been involved in training and development of working professionals, and was associated with various academic institutions as visiting professor.

He was the Founder Director of Futuristix Media Communication Center in Delhi (2004), an advertising, media and marketing institute. He has also been associated with IIMC Delhi, IIFT Delhi, Modi Management Institute, JP Business School, and Times School of Marketing as visiting and adjunct faculty.

His industry experience includes setting up Media Direction in RK Swamy BBDO, Media Edge in Rediffusion Y&R, lead media functions in JWT, and Mudra Communications.

During the course of his career, he has worked on clients such as Nestle, HLL, Hero Group, Maruti, Hindustan Motors, Jagatjit Industries, Honda City, Oral-B, ICI Paints, Escorts, IFB Bosch, Usha Fans, Unicef, and Population Services International, among others.

In his media consultancy firm, Quantum, he has worked with clients such as Amar Ujala Group, Zee News, Sakal Group, Delhi Press, etc.

Mukherjee has won advertising awards for media innovation for Oral-B Tooth Brush. Other prominent campaigns that he has worked on include Nestle Polo - the innovative ‘Mint with a Hole’ ad, which had a hole punched in the daily; ICI Paints campaign, wherein the front page of Sandesh newspaper featured the ad plus splashes of colour on the text of the front page to mark the festival of Holi at no additional cost and giving the brand instant recall.
