S Narayan returns to Grey fold; joins as Branch Manager of G3, Chennai

Replacing Vijay Jacob at the helm of G3 Communications in Chennai is former Grey Worldwide hand, S Narayan. He returned to the Grey fold after a six-month ‘sabbatical’ on December 14, 2005, and will report to Nirvik Singh, President, Grey Global Group (GGG), South East Asia and Chairman, GGG, South Asia.

On the appointment, Singh said, “Narayan comes with an immense amount of experience and I’m confident he will contribute to building G3 to a top agency. I’m delighted to have Narayan back with us on the management team.”

In his last stint at Grey Worldwide’s Chennai office, Narayan was Client Services Director. He now assumes day-to-day responsibility for all businesses at G3 Communications, Chennai.

“Looking after G3 will be both a challenge and a great opportunity to shape an agency that has the potential of becoming one of the best in the region,” Narayan said.

Educated in Chennai, and armed with an MBA Diploma from NMIMS and an MBA (Marketing) from BIM Trichy, Narayan started his career with Crompton Greaves, Mumbai, before moving on to the finance department of RK Swamy/BBDO. The agencies he has worked in include FCB-Ulka and McCann Ericsson, besides Grey Chennai. He has worked on brands across categories, including Henkel’s Margo, TTK’s Kohinoor and Durex condoms, Medimix, Pondicherry Tourism and Hawkins.

G3 Communications’ Chennai office handles three brands from CavinKare (Nyle, Indica and the recently launched Tex), Nutrine’s Eclairs, and retail client Sree Krishna Gold.

Meanwhile, the hunt is on for a head for Grey Worldwide’s Chennai office, a position vacated by Kaushik Tiwari who moved to Rediffusion DYR recently.
