HT Media Limited has roped in Piyush Shah, a senior Microsoft hand, as Business Head of its Internet business. It is reliably learnt that S N Bhaduri, Vice-president, e-Business, HT Media, has put in his papers and may be headed towards starting his own venture in the consumer Internet domain.

A company spokesperson confirmed the appointment of Shah but stated that Bhaduri’s new assignment is yet to be decided.

However, sources close to the development told exchange4media that Bhaduri had submitted his resignation four months ago. He would continue with the organisation till around December 19, 2006, to facilitate a smooth transition and the launch of the revamped hindustantimes.com.

Shah, an MBA from The Wharton School, USA, was with working with Microsoft Corporation at Mountain View, California, Director-Consumer Online Strategy. He was handling the responsibility of providing strategic wins between Microsoft Internet platforms, Microsoft AdCenter platform and online business initiatives for Ebay, Google, Yahoo! and MySpace.

Before Microsoft, Shah had worked with the networking website LinkedIn.com as Strategy and Marketing Consultant and with the on-demand CRM services company Salesforce.com as Consultant to VP. During his 15-year career, Shah has also worked with companies like Gensym Corporation, Match.com and DiamondCluster International.

In April 1996, Shah founded the e-commerce software consultancy firm Leverage Information Systems with a partner. The company was subsequently acquired by Diamond Technology Partners in November 1999.
