RK Swamy/BBDO appoints Shams Kabir as Media Head, Delhi; VP Tarun Ahuja quits

There are changes happening at RK Swamy/BBDO’s Delhi operations. Vice-president and Head, Delhi branch, Tarun Ahuja, has put in his papers. Ahuja is yet to decide on his next assignment.

At the same time, the agency has appointed Shams Kabir as Media Director, to be based in Delhi. He will report to Sandeep Tarkas, CEO, OMD, the media business outfit of RK Swamy/BBDO. Besides heading all media activities of the agency’s Delhi operations, he will also form part of the team involved in consolidating the media business of the agency.

Said Kabir, “It is a good opportunity to be able to team up with Sandeep once again. I will be a national level resource helping Sandeep in consolidating the media business of the agency. I will also head the media operations of the Delhi office.”

Kabir, in his previous assignment, was handling the Pepsi account at Mindshare. Having started his career with HTA, Mumbai, in 1992 in the then emerging media business, he moved to Fulcrum where he worked with Tarkas for three years. With this appointment, Tarkas and Kabir have once again joined forces. From Fulcrum, Kabir moved to Madison for a short stint, then joined Lintas for a year. Thereafter, he worked for Tara Channel as National Head of Sales, before moving to Mindshare.
