RIM appoints Sunil Dutt as MD for India

Research In Motion (RIM) has announced the appointment of Sunil Dutt as Managing Director for India. Dutt is an industry veteran with 27 years of extensive experience in the Indian mobile technology and telecom sector.

Commenting on Dutt’s appointment, Urpo Karjalainen, Senior Vice President - APAC for Research In Motion, said, “Sunil Dutt brings a wealth of experience to RIM. His strong managerial and communication skills, as well as an institutional understanding of the technology and telecom sector will be instrumental in driving the next stage of our business’ growth in India.”

On his new role, Dutt said, “India has achieved considerable success in RIM’s global business in recent years. I am excited to be part of RIM and to help drive this success further.”

Until recently, Dutt was with Hewlett Packard India Sales Pte Ltd as President, Personal Systems Group, where he was responsible for expanding their business in the enterprise, mid-market and consumer space. Prior to that, he had worked in senior positions for companies like Samsung India Electronics Ltd, Nokia India Pte Ltd, Whirlpool of India Ltd, Wipro Ltd and Philips India.

Research In Motion, a global leader in wireless innovation, revolutionised the mobile industry with the introduction of the BlackBerry solution in 1999. Founded in 1984 and based in Waterloo, Ontario, RIM operates offices in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America.
