Girish Shah, Head of Branding, Reliance ADA Group, has been nominated to the CMO Council Worldwide’s Asia Pacific Advisory Council. The CMO Council is a worldwide body of marketing professionals and the advisory board in Asia Pacific includes nearly 30 for B2B and about 15 for B2C companies.
According to Shah, his nomination only reflected the overall growth of the brand and added value to his brand. “It is largely about how these brands develop traction and move forward. The nomination is more about the brand’s growth and brand’s recognition and the brand’s ability to increase the customers’ lifestyle value that impact is largely what brands gain from.”
He further said, “The India growth story is still intact, even the 6 per cent GDP growth is not at all bad. If you see, many world economies are contracting, the US, the UK, Germany and Japan, too, and if you have a scenario where the Indian economy is growing at 6 per cent GDP, that’s a very firm statement and that it is an aggressive player in the world economy. While it may have had a short term impact on export-oriented industry, but if you look at telecom, education, pharmacy and healthcare, they all are growing.”
The rise in Indian nominations across industries emerging in the world stage shows not only the contribution of the brand capability, but also that the country is being recognised globally. “Therefore, it is how one can position Reliance as strongly on a platform in a larger scale and thus, such forums will definitely provide opportunities to network and put forth your points. Eventually, it would only bring in more visibility and build more value to the brand,” he added.
Shah is a Department Head and a leader with strong skills in marketing, sales and business development, honed over 16 years with leading MNCs and Indian majors across the FMCG/ consumer pharma and service sectors. In his current assignment with the Reliance ADA Group, over the last two and a half years, he has played various leadership roles having launched Reliance Power then been CMO at Reliance Capital, the financial services wing, and now as Head of Branding, managing the Big brand across the media and entertainment vertical, apart from supporting the brand strategy for NIS Sparta and the KDA Hospital.
He has in the past been associated with the UB Group as Head - Marketing for their JV with Scottish and Newcastle Europe’s largest brewer, having successfully grown their strong beer portfolio to volume and value leadership and then being offered a global position at the group HQs, which he declined to stay on and launch Kingfisher Airlines.
