Ravi Dhariwal has recently been appointed CEO of Times Publishing, part of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, publishers of The Times of India. He was Executive Director, BCCL for the last five years. He will continue to be a member of the Board of Directors of BCCL. He will be reporting to both Samir Jain, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, and Vineet Jain, Managing Director, BCCL.
On his appointment, Dhariwal said, “I am happy to take up this new assignment. In my new role I will head the publishing unit, which includes mainly The Times of India and The Economic Times.”
Dhariwal has played a key role in recent months in driving The Times Group’s acquisition drive to acquire publishing houses in the language media. The buyout of the Vijay Times group in Karnataka was a major feather in his cap. He also played a lead role in the formation of the joint venture with HT Media which is slated to soon launch a compact that will be distributed with both the leading dailies.
Dhariwal had earlier worked with Pepsico as Head of Beverages in South-East Asia and also headed the beverage business of Pepsico India. He was with Pepsico for 12 years. He started his career with Hindustan Lever in India and Australia where he spent around 12 years. He has more than 30 years of experience in sales and marketing.
