India News, the 24x7 Hindi news channel from the ITV group, is going in for a major revamp and is soon launching its second regional news Channel, India News Bihar. The task for the revamp as well as the launch of the new regional channel has been given to Raveen Thukral, who was hitherto heading ITV’s India News Haryana as its Managing Editor.
In his new role, Thukral would head all the editorial operations of the ITV as its head. This announcement was made by CEO of the company, Rakesh Sharma.
Sharma told exchange4media that under Thukral’s leadership, both India News Haryana and Aaj Samaj had achieved the No. 1 position in a span of less than one year. While the newspaper sold more than any other publication in Chandigarh and Ambala, the Haryana channel had a wide viewership and the highest TRPs amongst the regional channels in the state, he claimed.
About the Bihar plans, Sharma said, “We are poised to become the No. 1 channel.”
Thukral, who has more than two decades’ experience in journalism, has served at senior positions in major publications, including Hindustan (18 years) and The Tribune. He is also the Editor of the group’s Hindi paper, Aaj Samaj, published from Chandigarh.
When contacted, Thukral said that it was huge a responsibility, but added that he was confident that the ensuing ventures of ITV would be as successful as its Haryana channel and Aaj Samaj operations.
