Dentsu India has announced the elevation of Rajesh Aggarwal as President of Dentsu’s India operations. Dentsu’s three advertising agencies and two media-buying companies would now report to Aggarwal. He will continue to be based in Delhi. Aggarwal is one of the founding members of the Dentsu India team, having been Executive Director of Dentsu Marcom for the last four years. He has been in advertising for well over 20 years, and had spent a long innings at Rediffusion DY&R before joining Dentsu.
Commenting on the development, Sandeep Goyal, Chairman, Dentsu India, said, “Rajesh is both an old friend and a very trusted colleague. I am extremely happy at his elevation as President of Dentsu India. Clients have high regards for Rajesh, both professionally and personally. His client leadership and mature style of personal rapport make Rajesh one of the rare gentlemen in Indian advertising today. We have high hopes pinned on him to lead Dentsu in India to greater heights in the days ahead.”
Aggarwal said, “Dentsu is today the fastest growing agency network in India. To be asked to lead our juggernaut of growth is both an honour as well as a big challenge for me. We have built a very strong team and resource base over the last 4-5 years, and are well-positioned to achieve our target of becoming a Rs 1,000 crore agency by 2010, actually by the end of 2008 or early 2009.”
“We as an agency are reasonably low-profile. Tom-tomming awards or campaigns is something we do not subscribe to. We win businesses, we work hard to service our clients, we produce advertising that creates equity and customers for client brands. The focus, therefore, has to remain on our clients, not us as an agency,” Aggarwal further said.
