Rajat Basra, who was with MPG for a very short stint as Associate Vice-president, is set to join Dentsu Communications as head of media function. Basra is expected to additionally shoulder the responsibilities at a senior level in a yet-to-be-announced Dentsu media entity. He will be based in Delhi.
Senior officials at Dentsu confirmed the news about Basra’s appointment, but refused to divulge further details.
At MPG, Delhi, Basra headed the entire buying of the agency, including Reckitt Benckiser. Prior to that, he was Business Director with GroupM Team LG for three years. He was heading the consumer electronics and mobile businesses, and was also looking after the electronic buying for LGEIL and LG Inc.
Basra began his career with Optimedia, where he worked for five years and played a key role in the Hewlett-Packard business. After that he moved to Starcom as Associate Group Head, where he worked on the Sony business for a year before joining GroupM Team LG.
