Rajan Mehra has been elevated as the Country Manager of eBay India. He will take charge of his new position on January 1, 2007. In his new role, Mehra will lead the entire eBay portfolio in India, including the eBay India marketplace, the eBay India motors marketplace, the Kijiji classifieds website and PaisaPay, eBay India’s secure online payment gateway.

Earlier, eBay India had two Country Managers – Gautam Thakar was Country Manager, eBay India marketplace, while Mehra was Country Manager, Payments and New Ventures.

Reacting to his new appointment, Mehra said, “I am delighted to take on my new role to steer eBay India and its talented team. I look forward to growing our strong vibrant India business and sustaining eBay’s leadership in ecommerce in India.”

A member of eBay’s Asia Pacific leadership team, Mehra was responsible for the strategy, incubation and management of the new business initiatives at eBay India. Amongst Rajan’ accomplishments was conceptualising and building a successful nationwide B2B motors business – eBay India motors marketplace.

Gautam Thakar, too, has been elevated to Senior Director, International Marketing, eBay with effect from January 1, 2007. Thakar’s new responsibilities will include coordinating eBay’s marketing efforts across its 32 international markets and driving global trade between the eBay sites. He will be a member of the international leadership team and the Global Brand Council and will report to Lorrie Norrington, President of eBay International.
