Radio One CEO Rajesh Tahil quits

Rajesh Tahil, CEO, Radio One, has decided to move on. Mid Day Multimedia made an official announcement on this on April 16. Tahil, in partnership with Aakar Patel, will take on an entrepreneurial role at ‘Hill Road Media’, a content outsource company.

Speaking on the reasons for his decision to move on from Radio One, Tahil said, “I personally wanted to do something on my own in the entrepreneurial space. There are various opportunities in the market, wherein today’s economic environment is favourable from project availability and funding points-of-view, and this is the right time to make this move. We are in the age of professional entrepreneurship. I have decided to try my hands for the same.”

In the meanwhile, Mid Day is looking at identifying a replacement in the next two months. Tariq Ansari, MD, Mid Day Multimedia, will take a larger role in the radio operations in order to facilitate the transition. In an internal communication, Ansari said, “Rajesh has been an integral part of our radio plans. While we are sorry to see him leave, he will continue to be associated with Mid Day in a consulting capacity to ensure that the transition to new leadership is a smooth one.”

Tahil was Group Publisher of Mid Day before taking charge of Mid Day’s joint venture with the BBC, which has steered the national rollout of Radio One.
