Radaan Mediaworks ropes in V Murugan as CEO

Makkal TV’s erstwhile COO V Murugan has moved on to Radaan Mediaworks India Ltd, where he is taking charge as CEO from January 18, 2012. He will be responsible for the overall operations and execution of projects.

At Makkal TV, where he had worked for two years, Murugan was instrumental in the development, design, operation, and improvement of the systems, which were on the verge of a shutdown. He also conceived and was actively involved in the production and launch of more than 50 unique programming content shows. His strategic marketing measures resulted in a 300 per cent jump in revenue and a steady growth in GRPs.

Speaking to exchange4media on his new role, Murugan shared, “Content is king. It decides the fate of any media and will continue to be the draw, the constant factor. Radaan has understood this very well and is already one of the most respected media houses in the country. Being part of this organisation makes it more exciting and will add a different dimension to my career.”

Murugan began his career in 1991 with Eureka Forbes. A year later, he moved to media house PrimeTime IP Media as Regional Head, handling airtime sales of programmes on Doordarshan and satellite television, notable being ‘Mahabharatha’ on Sun TV and ‘Meri Awaz Suno’ on DD. In 1997, he joined Raj Television Network as GM and was subsequently promoted to the post of VP – Sales and Marketing for Raj TV, Raj Digital Plus, and Vissa channels till 2008. He moved to digital and out-of-home media for a brief period before taking up the post of COO at Makkal TV in December 2009.

Radaan Mediaworks is one of the leading production houses in South India, producing content across genres such as family dramas, sitcoms, thrillers, game shows, telefilms and feature films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Sinhalese, Gujarati and Hindi languages.
