R Rajmohan quitting Images Consumer Group; set to join RPG’s ‘Open’ magazine

R Rajmohan is quitting Images Consumer Media Group, where he is currently the President and Publisher. He is set to join ‘Open’, the magazine from RPG Group, as Publisher from February 15, 2010. Rajmohan will be reporting to Sanjeev Goenka, VC, RPG Group. He has confirmed his movement to exchange4media.

Rajmohan had joined Images Consumer Media Group in December 2006. About his stint with the Group, he said, “The three-year old semi-entrepreneurial stint at Images has been an amazing experience with a lot of learning. If I were to pick a significant achievement, that would be the launch of Livingetc last year. The first international consumer title from us was launched in extremely tough market conditions and it is doing exceedingly well.”

On joining ‘Open’ magazine, he commented, “‘Open’ magazine, the first product from RPG Group’s stable, is an excellent editorial product, which needs to be taken to the position it deserves in the market place. Coupled with that is the challenge and opportunity of identifying relevant niches and launching more titles. Altogether, it will be quite exciting professionally and I am looking forward to it.”

Sandipan Deb, Editor of ‘Open’ magazine, and Rajmohan have worked together earlier for several years. On Rajmohan’s new innings with ‘Open’, Deb said, “Because we have worked with each other for several years, we both are very comfortable working with each other. He is coming with a wealth of experience. He had been responsible for many magazine launches in the past and he will definitely help us with his huge experience behind him.”

Deb further said, “RPG is looking forward to launching two magazines this year. Of these two, one will be a huge international magazine brand. We will be sharing more details about it soon.”

Rajmohan has over two decades of experience in the publishing industry and has worked with some of the most illustrious media groups in the country. He started his career with The Times of India Group in ad sales and then joined the India Today Group, where he worked for over six years, handling various assignments in ad sales.

He also had a two-year stint at Hindustan Times before moving on to the Outlook Group in 1999. He was also the National Head of Ad Sales for the Group and a member of the Management Committee for many years. Designated Vice-President, his last assignment in Outlook was that of Business Head of the Outlook magazine. He has been a member of the Governing Council of Association of Indian Magazines (AIM) since its inception.
