Pratik Thakar appointed Deputy MD and Chief Strategy Officer, McCann Worldgroup Malaysia

McCann Worldgroup Malaysia has made some key appointments recently. Pratik Thakar has been appointed Deputy Managing Director and Chief Strategy Officer, while Huang Ean Hwa and Lee Szu-Hung, who were Executive Creative Directors, have been appointed as Deputy Chairmen at McCann Worldgroup.

Commenting on the appointments, Sorab Mistry, McCann Erickson’s South-East Asia Director, said, “These promotions are timely as they contributed immensely toward the agency enjoying an incredibly rewarding year in 2006.”

Since joining McCann Erickson, Thakar has contributed significantly to the agency’s growth, including new account wins like DiGi, Al-Rajhi Bank, Proton, and Suria KLCC. He is the principal editor of the McCann Knowledge Quarterly and runs one of the most highly respected strategic brand planning within agencies in South-East Asia.

Apart from McCann South East Asia, Thakar has worked with Saatchi & Saatchi India, Mudra and Lowe Lintas / Pathfinders India on various strategic brand planning and consumer insight areas.

McCann Erickson had won the ‘Agency of the Year’ Award at the Kancil Awards. Apart from that, McCann Erickson also won various awards at Cannes, Clio, One Show, D&AD, Media Advertising Awards, and Adfest. The agency was also recognised in the Gunn Report’s list of the top 20 print advertisements in the world.
