Pradeep Hejmadi joins TAM as VP, S-Group; Hema Govindan to replace him as Head of Nick

Pradeep Hejmadi, who had recently seen a change in his job profile at Nick, quit the organisation last week. He will be joining TAM Media Research shortly as Head of S-Group (Broadcast Management) team. Hejmadi was heading Nick’s operations till recently.

To replace him, the Network has roped in ex-Disney Marketing Head, Hema Govindan, as General Manager and Head of Nick. She will head all functions of the channel. She is expected to join the organisation this week.

MTV officials were not available for comment at the time of filing the report. For the uninitiated, Hejmadi had joined Nick as Director for Business and Operation. The channel was under his supervision ever since it went Hindi. His profile was changed recently when he was given the role of heading research for the Network’s three channels – MTV, Nick and VH 1.

Said L V Krishnan, CEO, TAM Media Research, “S-Group has brought in some wonderful insights for the industry since its inception three years back. Many of this division’s contributions have propelled TAM to newer heights, even internationally. For the future, I do see a new trajectory of growth in the field of Broadcast Management. I am very pleased to announce that Pradeep will be joining us to spearhead the S-Group division. He brings huge amounts of value additions to the table as he has been associated with a wide variety of assignments in the domain of media planning and broadcast management.”

For Govindan, this appointment will mark her return to the growing kids genre. Her stint with Disney ended in May 2005. With over 18 years’ experience, Govindan’s previous assignment was as Head of Marketing and Communications, Walt Disney Television International (India), where she was involved in launching and developing their multi-channel offering.

With an aim to strengthen the top management, the company has also announced two other appointments and are in the process of closing the third one – Shaalu Wadhwa has been appointed Director-Marketing; Ben Richardson has been appointed Director-Content & Creative; while the position of Director-Ad Sales is being finalised.

Sources in the know of the situation informed that the appointment accentuated the Network’s focus on individual channels. Recently, Keertan Adyanthaya was appointed as General Manager for VH1.

These appointments mark the beginning of Nick’s second phase of growth and momentum in India, and we are confident that Hema and her team will drive connectivity with kids in India to the Nickelodeon brand offering.”

Commenting on her appointment, Govindan said, “Kids’ television has become something of a life mission for me over the past decade. I am absolutely delighted to be continuing my work in the kids’ space with Nick. Nickelodeon has been a pioneering kids’ TV destination across the globe and has immense potential in India.”
