Prabhakar Mundkur heads home to JWT

Ending weeks of speculation following his resignation as Everest President, Prabhakar Mundkur has finally revealed his next destination. In a surprise move, he is re-entering JWT as the agency’s Business Development Director, Mumbai. Speaking exclusively to exchange4media.com, Mundkur confirms the development.

“Yes I have made the move back to JWT as its Business Development Director,” he said. Elaborating on his new responsibilities, he said that one of core duties would be to develop new business strategies.

The post of a Business Development Director, though present in number of JWT offices abroad, did not exist in India till date. Specially created for Mundkur, it offers him the position of a “national resource”.

Following Mundkur’s resignation as Everest President in mid-March, the industry was rift with rumours about his next move. Joining JWT in 1982, Mundkur has spent the bulk of his career with the agency. Besides heading JWT’s Bangalore operations in 1992, he has had two stints abroad – one in Africa and the other in China in 1998. Besides JWT and Everest, he has also held positions in Euro RSCG.
