Playwin’s Melville Patrao to set up own retail marketing firm, Equilateral, in April 2007

Melville Patrao, COO, Playwin and Essel Group Company, has put in his papers. He is setting up his own retail marketing firm, Equilateral, which is expected to commence operations in April 2007. Equilateral will start working on clients like United Spirits and ITC Ltd.

The booming retail movement in the country along with Patrao’s experience in this field have been cited as the reasons behind this new launch. Patrao said, “Retailing is developing in a huge way in the country. As a result, there is a lot of scope in retail branding and back-end operations in this space. We will be providing solutions on brands in these areas and ensure a success for them.”

Patrao, who joined Playwin in 2003, conceptualised the ‘joker’ game for the gaming company and has also been credited with the company’s growth from Rs 300 crore to the current Rs 2,000 crore.

Patrao further said, “My 25 years of experience in sales and marketing will surely help me and the brands that partner with us.”
