Piyush Shah quits as HT’s Head of Internet, mobile strategy and technology

Piyush Shah, Head of Internet, mobile strategy and technology, HT Media, has put in his papers. Sources close to the development have confirmed the news. They added that Shah might start his own Internet venture or take up bigger opportunities in an Internet company. At HT, where he had worked for eight months, Shah was heading the company’s Internet ventures and mobile platforms.

Before joining Hindustan Times full-time, Shah was a consultant for a few months as he was based in the US then. He was Director, Consumer Internet Strategy, at Microsoft from October 2004 to March 2006. He was also a Marketing Consultant to Salesforce.com from June-August 2004. Before joining Salesforce.com, Shah was a Principal at management consultancy firm DiamondCluster International in the US for three years from 2000-03.

Shah had also worked as CTO of Jabber for two months. He founded his own e-commerce software consultancy, Leverage, with a partner, where he held the role of President from April 1996 to November 1999. The consultancy has worked on all facets of a bootstrapped start-up company – financing, hiring, infrastructure, business development, client management, technical architecture, software development, and software development manager. Leverage was acquired by Diamond Technology Partners in November 1999.

Shah had begun his career with Match.com as a Senior Software Engineer in June 1994.
