Managing Editor and Director of the Malayala Manorama Group, Philip Mathew, is the new Chairman of the Press Trust of India (PTI). Confirming the development to exchange4media, Mathew said he had been elected as PTI Chairman for the second time. He succeeds MP Veerendrakumar, MD, Matrubhumi.
PTI is India’s largest news agency. It is a non-profit co-operative owned by Indian newspapers. Its subscribers include 450 newspapers in India and scores abroad. All major TV and radio channels in India as well as BBC are its subscribers. It has a staff of over 1,300 including 400 journalists, and has over 80 bureaus across the country and foreign correspondents in major cities of the world.
