Pallav Moitra quits India Today Group, to join Images Group as COO

Pallav Moitra, Associate Publisher of India Today Group’s Business Division, has put in his papers. He is joining Delhi-based Images Group as COO. Moitra has been with the India Today Group for the last two years and has played a key role in launching three of its international brands – ‘Scientific American’, ‘Harvard Business Review’ and ‘Men’s Health’.

Commenting on his new assignment, Moitra said, “My role is primarily to power the growth of a company that is young, progressive and steadily growing. It has clearly emerged as a leading player in its domain and made a mark for itself in a short span of time. Apart from driving the business forward and strengthening the new office, my role would also entail planning new launches and consolidating the existing businesses.”

Moitra began his career with the ABP Group in 1986 and later had stints with The Pioneer and Times Group. He was part of the initial ventures of Times TV and Times FM in the early nineties, after which he started his own venture partnering with two other media veterans in 1995, which was engaged in publishing magazines for private airlines and banks. He has also been involved in production and marketing TV programmes, event management and various BTL activities.

Moitra has also offered consultancy services to media groups such as Amar Ujala and the Bhaskar Group besides being a media consultant to Zee News. He has also pioneered the concept of advertising on boarding cards of various airlines.

Summing his learning and experience at the India Today Group, he said, “It was an enriching two years where I got the opportunity to be part of launching big international brands. I couldn’t have got a better re-entry after being on my own for a while than the India Today Group.”

Images Multimedia Group was established in 1992 and has been playing a vital role in organising the fashion and retail businesses in India. The Group has successfully set up an information exchange via B2B magazines that equips the trade with the knowledge that drives the fashion and retail businesses across the globe. The magazines include Images fashion and retail magazine, Images (Business of Fashion) and the recently launched international magazine, Images Retail Middle East.

The Group also organises the annual Indian Retail Forum and India Fashion Forum, and is planning to launch some homegrown and international titles in the special interest category in the near future.
