OMD appoints Chennai Head

OMD India has appointed Ramesh Kalyanaraman as head for its Chennai office. Kalyanaraman joined the agency on October 11, 2011 as Associate Vice President. Prior to this, he was with Madison Media.

Commenting on the appointment, Gita Ram, SVP and Head of OMD’s South ops, said, “In a short span of OMD’s entry in the Chennai market, we have build a strong base of clients and our team. We welcome Ramesh on board and look forward to him further contributing to our client’s business and continuing our momentum in Chennai.”

OMD is all set to complete five years of operations in India in February 2012. The agency commenced its Chennai office in 2009. OMD’s client list in Chennai includes the likes of Renault-Nissan, Lotte, Parryware Roca, Tamil news channel Puthiya Thalaimurai, Venus and Chennai Silks, among others.

Kalyanaraman brings 20 years of experience in media that pan across planning, buying and rural media in markets including Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore. Before Madison, Kalyanaraman worked in agencies such as Mudra, Media Direction, McCann Erickson and O&M Outreach, giving him experience in handling brands across multiple categories such as Financial, Auto, FMCG, Confectionery, Credit and Debit cards, Stationery, and Apparel/textiles among others. Kalyanaraman is an alumni of MICA and visiting faculty at Amrita School of Business and BIM.
