Rohan Deshpande has been roped in for the newly-created post of Chief Information Officer (CIF) at Ogilvy India. He will be based out of Mumbai. Though there was no official confirmation either from Deshpande or Ogilvy, industry sources have confirmed the appointment.
Deshpande moves from digital entertainment company Hungama, where he was Associate Director, Wireless Technology. At Hungama, he was responsible for creating and executing the technology roadmap. This technological strategy was devised using his expertise, keeping in mind the requirement of digital entertainment products and services in the mobile business across wireless carriers within India and abroad. In addition, he also had the responsibility to analyse the variety of technologies available and identify the systems needed to architect a complete product offering that fitted Hungama’s goals.
Deshpande brings with him eight years of rich experience in the telecom sector and comprehensive knowledge in Solution Architecture for new products/ technologies, Project Management, Business Process Analysis, Client Management and Consulting.
He began his career with Tata Infotech as Engineer and later worked with Bharti Cellular Ltd (AirTel) as Senior Engineer-IN & VAS, Western Region. He had also worked with ADC (Metrica) Software Ltd, USA, as Technical Account Manager for India & South East Asia, and SmartTrust AB as Pre-Sales and Program Manager.
