Nirupam Sonu elevated as VP- Programming at Big FM

Big FM has promoted Nirupam Sonu as Vice President, Programming. Sonu will be overseeing the entire programming function of Big FM stations across India. He will be reporting to COO Tarun Katial.

With over 13 years’ experience in various industries, Sonu will be leading his new role in Big FM based in Mumbai. This decision comes following Manav Dhanda moving on to a new role as Senior Vice President at Big Broadcasting, a Reliance ADA Group company which will be launching a bouquet of TV channels.

Commenting on the development, Katial said, “As Manav moves on to a new role at Big Broadcasting, Nirupam will take over the position of VP - Programming. Nirupam is a core strategist as well as a champion of innovations. His sharp aptitude, backed by extensive experience, will definitely help the radio category and Big FM grow more swiftly.”

Commenting on his new role, Sonu said, “As a first step, I’ll be focusing on consolidating the growth of all the stations. Radio programming strategy has always been a challenging job, but we have to continuously strive towards building new talent and search for innovative content. I look forward to entertaining our listeners with some great on-air content.”

Sonu had joined Big FM as Head of Stationality, followed by being promoted to National Creative Director, before taking up his new role as VP – Programming. He began his professional journey as a freelancer, where he was instrumental in producing and directing television shows. He later joined Star India as Executive Producer – On-air Promotions for Star Plus.
