Nilendu Sen quits Moving Pictures, to join Channel 7 as Creative Director

After spending nearly 13 years with Moving Pictures as Creative Head and Executive Producer, Nilendu Sen has decided to move on. He is all set to join Channel 7 as Creative Director.

Elucidating on his new role, Sen said, "I will be looking after the creative output of programming, graphics, and promotions, and would also probably meddle with outdoor publicity of the channel." Sen will be reporting to Executive Editor, Ajit Sahi. Commenting on Sen's appointment, Sahi said, "Sen will be a key pillar of the channel. We are poised for major growth in the first quarter of 2006, and he will play a crucial role for the channel."

Sahi also informed that Sen would work on enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the channel and would be instrumental in value added programming.

Sen, who brings with him around 17 years of experience in the television industry, started his career in 1987 with Siddharth Basu on a programme called 'Alpha Plus' and also did 'Quiz Time' with him.

He also worked with Clarion for a year before joining Moving Pictures, where he worked on shows like 'India This Week' and 'India Travel Show' among others.

Describing his stint with Moving Pictures as "wonderfully rewarding", Sen while elaborating on the challenges ahead, said, "The key challenge would be to create a unique kind of infotainment which is distinct yet refreshingly new."

He added, "There are big players in the market, so in order to compete with them, one has to be on one's feet all the time."
