Kanta Advani, who recently quit SAB TV, has joined India TV as President, Ad Sales. She will be based in Mumbai and will report to India TV CEO, Chintamani Rao.
Confirming the appointment, Rao told exchange4media, “We are happy to have a senior person like Kanta in our team. She is an important addition to our management.”
When asked why the channel felt the necessity of a President in the Ad Sales division, Rao replied, “Our content and distribution is now at par with the industry. So obviously the next big thrust has to be in the area of sales.”
Referring to the changes made by India TV in the field of programming and look and feel, Rao said, “A lot of changes have been made in our offering in last few months and we are ready for the next big leap.”
He further said, “We have definite plans for horizontal growth and it will happen at the right time.” He, however, didn’t set a time frame for it.
Speaking about her new assignment, Advani said, “I am very happy to be part of Rajat and Chinta’s team, both of whom have done a commendable job in a fragmented market. India TV has been constantly innovating and doing things differently to grab viewer’s attention. That is one thing that excites me about it.”
Asked about her first priority at the new job, Advani said, “The existing team has done a wonderful job. My focus will be not on restructuring, but to further consolidate on the achievements and go to the next level.”
Starting her career with the Times Group as a marketing trainee in 1980, Advani rose to the post of Deputy Chief Manager in the group, where she spent 15 years. In her next stint with Zee, she spent some seven years as Zee’s Director, National Sales Business. She was also in charge of Zee Cinema and Zee Music. Advani spent close to three years in her last assignment with SAB TV as its President, Sales and Marketing.
