New CVS Sharma quits as Country Head of Tribal DDB India

CVS Sharma (Venke) has put in his papers as Country Head of Tribal DDB India, the digital arm of Mudra and a member of the worldwide Tribal DDB Network. Venke will officially quit Tribal DDB India on June 19, 2006.

Venke has been associated with Mudra for the last six years and has been the founder and chief architect of Tribal DDB India’s success since its inception three years back. “My stint in Mudra has been extremely satisfying. I came here as a 24-year old and have grown up here,” he said.

Venke’s prominent achievements in Mudra include turning around advertising archive Magindia.com’s fortunes within six months from taking charge after which he built a profitable Internet agency, Digital Branding Solutions (DBS). Tribal DDB Worldwide took an interest in DBS and made it a part of the worldwide Tribal DDB network.

Tribal DDB India is one of the largest digital agencies in this part of the world with clients across India, the US and the UK, and currently has offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Ahmedabad.

“I will be forever grateful to AG Krishnamurthy, founder and initial CMD of Mudra, and Madhukar Kamath, MD and CEO, Mudra, for their faith in me,” Venke said, adding, “I have not decided about my next move and I am contemplating various options, including a backpacking holiday around the world, as I am currently in an introspective state of mind. This is a very important decision after heading Tribal India since its inception and I want to take some time in deciding my next move.”

Venke began his career with the Indian Navy as a marine engineering officer. After stints at the Naval Academy, Goa, INS Shivaji, Lonavla and in Eastern Naval Command on board INS Udaygiri, an accident ended his career in the Navy. Venke went on to receive a Gold medal in MBA from Osmania University and then experimented in his own enterprises in Hyderabad in market research, event management and software before joining Mudra as Business Manager in 2000. An IIM Ahmedabad alumnus, Venke has been prominently associated with the digital space in India for the last 10 years.

His client engagements include Citibank, LIC, Reliance ADAG Group, Reliance Petroleum, HDFC Bank, Times Group, British Telecom, IIM Ahmedabad, IRMA, TAPMI, Madura Garments, and Paras Pharma among others.
