: Neelanjan Shome is new CMO at HT; Anand Bhardwaj made Business Head-Marketing Solutions & Live Entertainment

There has been a top-level restructuring in HT Media’s marketing team. Neelanjan Shome has been named as the new Chief Marketing Officer for HT Media. He takes the place of Anand Bhardwaj, who has been made Business Head of a new vertical, Marketing Solutions & Live Entertainment. Shome moves in from Young & Rubicam where he was Country Head and Managing Director of their Indonesian operations.

Shome has over two decades of consumer marketing experience across Asia. In his decade-long stint with PepsiCo, he was responsible for starting up PepsiCo’s Asia Pacific Non-Carbonated division as their Vice-President and had previously been responsible for brand marketing for all their beverage brands in the Asia Pacific region.

He spent the first decade of his career in advertising – mostly with Lintas on various Unilever brands. After his stint with PepsiCo, he successfully established the first and only gallery for contemporary Indian art in Hong Kong and Greater China -– “Reflections”. He attended the Marketing Management Programme at Columbia University, USA.

As Business Head for Marketing Solutions & Live Entertainment, Bhardwaj, who was earlier VP-Marketing, will play a crucial role in providing momentum to HT Media’s growth strategy in current as well as new business areas. He will lead the development of strategies for supporting existing media revenues through events, leveraging benefits of new media bouquet and attracting new advertisers for the organisation’s emerging business initiatives. In addition, he will lead the identification of key accounts, and develop and execute strategies to maximize their impact.

In an internal memo, Rajiv Verma, CEO, HT Media, said, “Anand has successfully led HT Media’s Marketing team during the turnaround phase of the company. During his tenure, the company relaunched HT Delhi edition, its supplements including HT City, Hindi Hindustan and, most importantly, the Mumbai edition of HT. The brand has moved to a new height as a result of Anand’s work. He has also built a great marketing team. Under his leadership, events like Luxury Conference and Leadership Summit have gained national recognition. Anand will move into general management and will be heading new business initiatives.”
