N Venkat joins Emami as CEO

N Venkat has joined the Kolkata-based Emami Group as CEO. Venkat has over 19 years of experience in the FMCG, biotech and pharma sectors.

Venkat had worked with Cavinkare Pvt Ltd for seven years and resigned as President in 2000. He had held top management positions in biotech and pharma companies before joining Emami.

RS Agarwal, Chairman, Emami, said, “Venkat brings to Emami a rare combination of competencies, like leadership and team-building skills, along with strategic planning and new business development skills. We are currently on an aggressive expansion drive and would like to grow our brands in both the domestic and international markets. With his knowledge and expertise in the FMGC industry, Venkat is a right fit for Emami at this juncture.”

According to Venkat, Emami has great potential and also good fundamentals to grow into a large player in domestic as well as international FMCG market. Venkat is very positive about the prospects of Emami’s current portfolio of brands as well as the new brands, which the company is planning to launch in the next couple of years. He thinks that he will be able to contribute in the globalisation of Emami’s flagship brands across the world.
