Mukund Setlur appointed IBN 7 Head of Sales, North and East division

Global Broadcast News has appointed Mukund Setlur as Head of Sales of IBN 7 for the Northern and Eastern regions. Based in Delhi, Setlur will also handle the sales for Hindi business news channel, Awaaz, for the Eastern region.

In his previous assignment, Setlur was Regional Sales Manager of NDTV for last two years. Prior to that, he was an Associate Media Director with Media Edge, Mumbai. Setlur began his career with Sun Network and has been in the profession for more than 13 years.

Commenting on the new responsibility, Setlur said, “I’m extremely delighted with this opportunity to work with the fastest growing media house in the country. I am eager to be part of the team that is about to redefine Hindi news journalism.”

Speaking on Setlur’s appointment, Rajnath Kamath, Director-Sales, TV18, said, “IBN values Mukund’s sales skills, and with him at the helm, and other activities that have been planned, we are confident that the channel will grow into a market leader soon.”

Several changes have been executed in IBN 7 (formerly Channel 7) after GBN bought a stake in it and took editorial control. Ashutosh has been roped in from Aaj Tak as Managing Editor of the channel. He has also brought in more talent from his previous job in the form of Aaj Tak Deputy Editor, Mrityunjay Kumar Jha. A few other senior Aaj Tak staffers like Metro Bureau Head, Prabal Pratap Singh, Senior Special Correspondent Sumit Awasthi and Principal correspondent Sukesh Ranjan are also expected to join IBN 7 soon.

Though decision to change Channel 7’s name to IBN 7 has been taken, it would be implemented in two months’ time.
