The Media Research User’s Council (MRUC) has elected the new board members for the year 2005-06. While Leo Burnett Chairman Arvind Sharma takes over from Paresh Nath as Chairman of the Council, Executive Director and CEO, TV Today Network, G Krishnan has been appointed the Vice-Chairman.
The Council has added five new members in the board this year – G Krishnan; CEO, GroupM, India and South Asia, Ashutosh Srivastava; ITC’s Hemant Mallik; Maruti’s Mayank Parekh; and Lokmat’s Jwalant Swaroop.
Speaking about the new members, Sharma said, “Each of the new members are strong members of the industry today, who have contributed to the growth of this industry. With these members on board, MRUC would continue to find strength in various areas of research, which is more than just readership.”
Besides Mayank Parekh and Hemant Mallik, the other advertisers who form a part of the new board include HLL’s B V Pradeep, Raymond’s Nabhankar Gupta, Godrej’s Shyam Motwani, and Pravin Kulkarni from Parle.
In addition to Sharma and Srivastava, the other members who form a part of the agencies are Spatial Access’ Meenakshi Madhavani, Lintas Media Group’s Lynn de Souza, K Kurien, and R K Swamy’s Shekhar Swamy.
The press members include Divya Bhaskar’s Bharat Kapadia, Atul Maheshwari, Lokmat’s Jwalant Swaroop, Statesman’s Ravindra Kumar, and Outlook’s Maheshwar Perri. There is still a vacancy here, which can be filled in the board meeting that will take place in December.
Members representing broadcast media comprise G Krishnan, Times Entertainment’s A P Parigi, DD’s Vijay Lakshmi Chabbria, I Venkat from Eenadu, and Neeraj Roy of Hungama.com. The board has added a subset here to represent the Outdoor medium and Selvel’s Noomi Mehta is the representing member.
“For MRUC it is a matter of pride and respect that people of such high calibre choose to spend their time with the activities of the Council to benefit the industry on the whole,” said Sharma.
This board stays in office till the next elections, which will take place in September 2006.
