Marketing Head of Nokia, Sanjay Behl, has put in his papers after a one-and-a-half-year stint. His new destination is Reliance Infocomm where he will be Head of Infocomm Marketing, and will also be responsible for corporate branding. He is slated to assume his new role in mid-August 2005. He will work directly with Anil Ambani.
Confirming the development to exchange4media, Behl said, “It is a much bigger and challenging opportunity
with huge growth prospects. I have always been excited by the wireless opportunity in this country and
Reliance Infocomm has a very strong resource and infrastructure in India.”
Behl further mentioned that he has been given the responsibility of not just Infocomm marketing and
branding but also corporate branding of the entire enterprise. He will work directly with Anil Ambani to
shape the brand, it’s positioning and build its corporate identity.
At Nokia, Behl was responsible for sales and marketing along with brand communication for the entire Nokia
mobile products. Additionally, he looked after the brand image, retail, consumer insights, media and
technology at the company.
He started his career with Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) in 1993 as Sales Manager and then moved on to handle
their marketing function, which he pursued for the last eight years of his ten-year stint at the company.
At HLL Behl handled Indian as well as global assignments.
