Mindshare Malaysia appoints Gerald Wittenberger as MD

Gerald Wittenberger has been roped in as Managing Director for Mindshare Malaysia. He takes charge from August 12, 2013. Wittenberger takes over from Girish Menon, who has been holding dual roles as CEO of GroupM and Head of Mindshare in Malaysia. Moving forward, Menon will be fully dedicated to his role as GroupM CEO.

Wittenberger joins Mindshare Malaysia from OMD Slovakia, where he was Managing Director since 2009. He started his media career with media independent CIA Austria in 1999. He then joined OMD Austria as Senior Media Manager. After a two-year stint with Universal McCann, he returned to OMD Austria as Client Services Director with responsibilities covering strategic planning, media negotiation as well as coordinating Pan-European campaigns for international clients.

As Managing Director of OMD Slovakia, Wittenberger’s focus has been on digital media, and innovation and creativity in the strategic process. Through the course of his career, he has worked with over 30 clients across all major categories – including, Pepsi, Shell, Nissan, Sony, McDonald’s, Hasbro, Johnson & Johnson, HP, Tesco, Henkel, Reebok and more.

Commenting on the development, Girish Menon, CEO, GroupM Malaysia said, “Gerald is joining us at a time when Mindshare is preparing for its next set of expansion plans in Malaysia on the back of new media and new consumer behaviours, especially through our recently launched proprietary process, Adaptive Marketing.
