Milind Naik appointed as Miditech's CTO

Following the appointment of Anil Sanjivan as Executive Vice President and Business Head (Mumbai), Miditech Pvt Ltd is on a spree of appointing senior level staff. Lately, Milind Naik has been appointed as Chief Technical Officer at Miditech. Naik will be responsible for building a strong IT infrastructure that will facilitate smoother communication and exchange of data between Miditech’s various production centres in India and abroad.

Based in Bangalore, Naik will report to Nikhil Alva, CEO, Miditech. Alva said, “Milind not only has a critical role to play in Miditech’s foray into the new media space, but he will also help us use the latest technology to deliver better quality content more efficiently to our broadcast and other media partners. We are thrilled to have him on board as a key member of our senior management team.”

Naik has a global experience of over 15 years in the Internet and new media space. Prior to this appointment, he has worked with Star India (Interactive Media) and Cricinfo.com as CTO.

Commenting on his appointment, Milind said, “I’m happy to be a part of a wonderful production company that’s known for the innovative and cutting-edge television programmes it produces. I believe if we can marry Miditech’s content creation skill sets with technology, we can create some truly amazing new media properties that will take the world by storm.”

Speaking on the number of senior level appointments, Alva commented, “We are building, what I believe, is the best management team in production and will enable to scale up rapidly, and so will apply the opportunities in the market presented.”

Miditech has been involved in a number of genres. At the moment, Miditech is been handling about 14-15 projects. Alva said, “We have been into a whole range of shows; I don’t want to get into the list. We are working across the board with every single broadcaster, whether it is Sony, Star, ZEE or BBC. It will be a good mix of fiction and non-fiction genre, a whole range of different production.”

He further said, “This year, we have got into the fiction genre very aggressively. A number of fiction productions are underway, like Parivaar on Zee and many other dailies that are lined up on Sony, and some of the new players who are coming in.”

In this fiscal year, Miditech will make an aggressive foray into content creation specifically for mobiles, besides developing a number of Internet properties that could include a broadband portal, co-branded with a major global media partner to deliver content to audiences across the globe.

Over the past couple of months, Miditech has made a number of senior level appointments. On this note Alva said, “There will a lot of announcements. There are a lot of things happening as we are putting our team into place because we are going to be scaling our business very dramatically.”
