MIH India to focus on user-generated content, ropes in Yahoo!’s Satish Kadu as VP

MIH India has hired Satish Kadu from Yahoo! India as Vice-president and Business Head for one of its product divisions. Kadu, 31, was with Yahoo! India as Product Head for a couple of its products for about 20 months.

A Graduate from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad in 2003, Kadu was with Microsoft India as Programme Manager for two years before joining Yahoo! India.

Speaking about his new assignment, Kadu said, “After working with Microsoft and Yahoo!, I wanted to do something where I could build the business from scratch. India is going through an Internet revolution. There are a lot of open areas which are not well served by the Internet biggies. MIH India has identified these key areas for its business expansion. It is very serious about India, which makes my job more challenging.”

Commenting on the new appointment, Ashish Kashyap, CEO, MIH India, said, “We are building a world-class team at MIH. Satish will be playing a pivotal role in leading one of the most important products at MIH. We are very happy to have him in our team.”

Asked about the products MIH India would be launching, Kashyap said, “Our focus will be on user-generated, utilitarian content. The beta version of our first set of Internet web-based products will be launched within two weeks. However, we have planned big promotions which will break in the first week of November.”

MIH is part of the multinational media group Naspers Ltd, which has operations in 50 countries and comprises pay television platforms, Internet operations, instant messaging services and related technologies.
