Mid-Day has elevated Manajit Ghoshal as CEO of Mid-Day Infomedia Ltd., a newly formed subsidiary of Midday Multimedia Ltd., which would handle the print and dotcom business of the group. Ghoshal will lead the initiative of making Mid-Day into a multi-city, multi-media brand. He will also continue to be the CFO for the entire Mid-Day Group.
On his additional responsibility, Ghoshal said, “What sets Mid-Day apart is its strong and unmatched local focus and relevant information for young urban audiences, both online and in print. That is our goal, to be the best place for local news, nationally.”
About the group’s web initiatives, Ghoshal added, “Our site, www.Mid-Day.com, already has a tie-up with Daily motion and now with YouTube India, allowing users to upload videos on the site. In addition, social networking features, blogging and so on are aimed at encouraging user-generated-content and developing local YUMPI (Young Urban Mobile Professionals of India) communities online.”
Tariq Ansari, Chairman, Mid-Day Multimedia, said, “Mid-Day is already a national brand with a clear local focus, and we have plans to enter new markets soon. Manajit’s experience with strategy and implementation at Mid-Day makes him the ideal candidate to help us deliver the multi-city, multi-media plans for our business.”
Ghoshal had joined the group six years ago as CFO and became part of the strategic group of the company.
Mid-Day has print editions in Bangalore and Delhi besides the 29-year-old Mumbai edition. The Pune edition is coming soon.
