Media Contacts expands presence in Asia, India; appoints Rajeev Bala, Kushal Sanghvi in key posts

In a move to beef up its senior management team in Asia and India, Media Contacts, the digital media network of Havas, has made two key appointments. Rajeev Bala has been roped in as Regional Director for Asia, while Kushal Sanghvi has been appointed as Managing Director, India.

Bala, who moves from a search specialist firm Demand, will report to Vishnu Mohan, CEO-Asia Pacific of MPG, the sister media agency of Media Contacts. Bala would be based in Singapore, where he will look after Media Contacts’ South East Asia operations as well as oversee research and business development across the region.

Commenting on Bala’s appointment, Mohan said, “Rajeev brings with him deep domain expertise in paid and organic search, browser-based analytics and new media technologies, in addition to an infectious passion about measurable marketing. His appointment reaffirms our commitment to this region.”

Bala has earlier worked with Starcom IP and Euro RSCG, where he was looking after the Dell business for South Asia.

Meanwhile, Sanghvi has been brought in as Managing Director, Media Contacts India, to leverage the growth in digital advertising in India. Sanghvi has over 13 years’ experience in media, of which nine years were in the digital space. His last appointment was with Reliance ADAG, and prior to that he had pioneered India’s first interactive and reality television show, ‘Indian Idol’, for Fremantle Media. With ‘Indian Idol’, Sanghvi had opened up telephony revenue in the country for the first time. He has been in the digital space since 1997 and was one of the founder members of Rediff.com.

Commenting on Sanghvi’s appointment, Anita Nayyar, CEO, Havas Media, India, said, “Getting Kushal Sanghvi on board makes Media Contacts a full service digital agency, leveraging Havas Media’s fantastic knowledge and depth of digital experience for Indian clients.”
