Martin King joins Radio One Chennai as Station Head

Radio One, the FM joint venture between Mid-Day Multimedia and BBC Worldwide, has appointed Martin King as the Chennai Station Head. The appointment comes following the exit of LV Navaneeth, who quit the organisation a couple of months ago to join Sun TV Network as Vice President. Prior to joining Radio One, King was the Head of Sales at Radio City, Chennai and Coimbatore.

King had begun his career in 1995 with The Times of India’s Response division as an executive. He quit TOI in July 2006 as Senior Manager and joined Radio City Chennai as Head of Corporate Sales. King was part of the core team that launched Radio City’s operation in Coimbatore. As Head of Radio One Chennai, King would be responsible for sales, programming and marketing of the station.

Speaking about his mandate at Radio One, King said, “Since I am from a sales background, therefore, my focus would be on revenue enhancement, besides manpower optimisation and ensuring healthy operation of Radio One Chennai.”

“A lot of innovation is expected in Radio One Chennai, so the second half of the year looks better than the first half,” he added.
