Makkal TV promotes Komal Anbarasan as CEO

Komal Anbarasan has been elevated to Chief Executive Officer of Tamil channel Makkal TV. He took charge from February 7, 2012. Prior to this, he has been Chief News Editor at Makkal TV since 2007.

Commenting on the development, Anbarasan said, “Makkal TV is a great infotainment channel, and perhaps the only self-censored channel that manages to generate enthusiasm among its viewers. In my new role, I will to continue to cultivate these qualities, and at the same time speed up the transition to programmes. However, news will also remain top priority we have a strong viewer ratio in this area.”

Anbarasan has a good mix of experience in all aspects of the media business. He has led news teams in print as well as visual media. He was earlier with Sun TV as a journalist for five years. He has received several awards, including Best Young Journalist and Best Young Writer, given by the Thiruppur Tamil Sangam. He has also written a book on practical journalism, titled ‘Seyithigal… Nijamum… Nizhalum’.

Kranti Gada joined the family business at Shemaroo in 2006 after a successful stint of over two years in marketing at Pepsi Co. She has been associated with the company for 12 years.
