Lokmat Media appoints Bharatkumar Raut as Editorial Director

Close on the heels of elevating Jwalant Swaroop as COO-Publishing, Lokmat Media Ltd has added another high profile dignitary to head its editorial team with the appointment of Bharatkumar Raut as Editorial Director for Lokmat Group. Prior to joining Lokmat, Raut was Editor-in-Chief with one of the leading Marathi dailies.

Commenting on Raut’s appointment, Rishi Darda, Joint Managing Director, Lokmat Media, said, “We are extremely glad to have Mr Raut on board. We are confident that his experience across the industry would help Lokmat reach another level of growth.”

On joining Lokmat, Raut said, “The entire print media industry has witnessed a sea change in the past few years. The changing demographics of India’s population and growing literacy have brought newer challenges. With this new opportunity, my priority would be to take Lokmat Group to greater heights in the new competitive environment. I look forward to this opportunity to contribute my skills and experience towards the growth of the company.”

Raut had started his career with Doordarshan, where he worked on Marathi and later English news bulletins.

He was elected Member of the Parliament (Rajya Sabha) on March 19, 2008, and was further nominated as a Member on the Committee on Public Undertakings, Standing Committee on External Affairs, Committee on Subordinate Legislation Joint Parliamentary Committee on Offices of Profit and Consultative Committee on Information and Broadcasting.
