LG Electronics Head of Marketing Services Salil Kapoor resigns

Salil Kapoor, who was redesignated as Head of Marketing Services & Brand, LG Electronics India Ltd, a month ago, has resigned from the company. He put in his papers on Tuesday morning.

Besides being Head of Marketing, Kapoor was also the official spokesperson of the Korean consumer electronics and white goods giant till the reorganisation happened, when they brought in Girish Bapat as Vice-President-Marketing.

Following the reorganisation, Bapat became head of overall marketing functions of LG, with all team heads reporting to him, including Kapoor, who was assigned the role of managing the brand and its image. This included functions like corporate branding, advertising and promotion, PR, media planning and buying, sponsorships, events, web initiatives, etc.

At the time of filing this report, neither Kapoor nor Bapat was available for comment. It is not known yet where Kapoor is headed.

Kapoor joined LG Electronics in 1998 ad has held various positions in the company. Prior to LG, he was with Blue Star in the sales and marketing division.
